* - The Zombie Survival Guide is a horrible piece of literature, do not use it to substantiate your claims or use it as a base for anything.(Its is worth noting that Max Brooks has admitted that his book was first and foremost a joke, hence its listing as "Humor" on the Random House Publishing website)
* - You need evidence to base anything off, yes this is cryptozoology but that is not an excuse to be lazy. Do some research and if an argument regarding your claims begins, quote your sources.
* - When beginning a thread, please give a brief outline of which type of zombie your theory/thread is tailored to and a small brief about the mechanics of said zombie type.
* - Zombie Etiquette is expected at all times, zombies do not exist as of yet(Aside from the voodoo slaves) so anything about them is merely a theory and should be treated as such, comments such as "This theory is bullshit" that do not have a backing will be deleted and depending on the post in question, the poster may also be banned.
* - The arguments concerning the katana are both useless and annoying, as such these debates are not allowed, weapon choice is a personal one and should be left as such, you may offer suggestions but claiming that another user is an idiot for their choice in weapons is not allowed.
* - This is NOT /b/ - You are expected to act politely to fellow users.

If you see anything breaking the rules, click on the box in the top left corner of the post then scroll down to the bottom and hit report.

It's peaking into the early hours of the morning, you realize the news is broadcasting violent surges of mass rioting and hysteria seems like it's going to surface amidst the seems of your [place correct context here] town, city or what-ever. You have time, this is your one opportunity to gain as much information as you need to survive the next 6 months travelling by [your awesome zed mobile]. What would you bring? You are battling both Mother nature, lunatics in [name of your correctly contexted town, city or what-ever], as well as whatever's out there. From snakes and spiders to blood-thirsty zed's and rapists... I wan't to know how will you prepare yourself in ONE MONTH. Say goodbye to your girlfriend and pet iguana, we're in for the long haul.

I would at least bring:
Food (at least a 72 Hour Supply)
Clothing and Bedding items
Cooking and Tool supplies ( flashlight, portable radio, can opener, utility knife )
Team members Special Needs (medications, prescription drugs, documents, pet care items )
3 People (A squad sized element is the most manageable)
4 Gallons of water (1 gallon per person depending on how many in your group)
Purification System (Making sure it substantiates the .1 micron system)
First Aid Kit ( Invest in a good one, or build your own based on the ten most common injuries for you and your area.)
Full Tank of Gas
Shotgun and 100 Shells (Federal Slugs at surplus is about 88.00)
Handgun and 500 rounds (9mm FMJ can be bought surplus at 197.00)
Permits and licenses for the weapons. *Important*

Dear /zom/

I want to watch/read some 4srs zombie media. By this I mean, nothing from Japan, no school girls popping off .50s against an army of zacks, you get the point. I want some media that takes itself seriously and deals with day to day survival.

Any suggestions?

There's much more out there but I didn't feel like digging. >>12920 is a serious post. Ok sure I probably won't turn into a rager today. Or tomorrow. Or maybe it won't be for several generations.

One day though, my toxoplasma riddled childrens children will rise up and take over the world with their serotonin deprived rage! I'm just trying to give you guys a heads up.

Let's consider the following: a zombie apocalypse wherein there are two stages of the infection and chaos.

During the day, the male zombies are zombies and the female zombies turn into regular females. And at night, the regular females turn into female zombies and the male zombies turn into regular males.

Of course, this only affects people that are zombies - any human that hasn't been infected is still, of course, a regular human, fighting the zombies as normal.

A regular female (one that isn't actually a zombie) is confronted by a smart male zombie during the night (so that means he'll be posing as a regular human male). The psuedo-male human convinces the real female human to have sex to survive, so they do. The psuedo-male is gone by the morning, turning back into a regular zombie.

The regular female human is now pregnant with twins, one male and one female. During the day she has a regular human female and a male zombie inside of her, and during the night she has a regular human male and a female zombie inside of her.

She gives birth during a solar eclipse. What the fuck happens?

By the way, they are not literally switching from zombie to non-zombie while inside of her. I forgot to mention that the zombie effect only begins when the child is born.

My dearest sirs, i would love your opinion on this article's merits: http://www.cracked.com/article_18683_7-scientific-reasons-zombie-outbreak-would-fail-quickly.html

I think it brings some valid points to the table about the failure of a zombie outbreak.

Meh. I've always thought that this whole zombie fantasy is just sociopathic shut-ins rationalizing their need for a reason to go on killing sprees and loot stuff they can't afford.

Here's my set up. It's a little old.
The jacket and pants are high performance motorcycle wear meant to protect from strong impacts and abrasions. The boots are fire, water, and voltage proofed kevlar. They seemed like a good idea.
Subsonic (presumably, the image was too small) .22lr rounds. The rifle and pistol both use .22lr rounds, as well.

So I was having a discussion today with a mate about what gun we'd be likely to use post-zday. I was talking about something along the lines of an M4 or F88 AUSSTEYR because 5.56x45 is a very common military round and even civilian round (AR-15s etc) and this eventually brought up discussion of the M249. Now this is where my friend and I began to disagree. He favored the M249 with a drummag and full auto, saying that one would simply "mow down" zombies and one could restrain one's fire with the M249. I argued that an M4 on a three round burst would be the superior selection for firerate, I said that you would have better accuracy and as recoil causes the muzzle to rise, you'd get a decent spread across the chest maybe even drifting into the neck. I claimed that this would be beneficial as no matter which type of zombie we are dealing with, it would be an effective killing method. I argued that with magical headshot-only undead, entering a room to see a shambler standing right there, a three round burst would knock them back (they are not bracing nor are they coordinated, the round hitting them would have more pushback effect than one hitting a regular human) allowing you extra time to raise your rifle a bit and deliver that headshot. I also claimed that against "Infected" a three round burst to the chest would likely kill or disable them from getting their heart or spinal cord (assuming FMJ). He went on to argue that when you're clearing rooms, you essentially want to spray everywhere and disable anything in there, hence the M249 or other weapon set to full auto. He then repeated his claim that if one watched their fire when not clearing rooms, one would not instantly use up all their ammo. I counter-argued that with modern firearms having stupendously high rates of fire on full auto, one would empty an entire magazine in just a few seconds (assuming a 32-round boxmag) and that it would be a waste of ammo.

So, fellow anti-zombie combatants, I was wondering what rate of fire you'd be most likely to use. Single fire, a burst or full automatic?

tl;dr me and a mate debated full auto vs burst and it got me thinking about it so I decided to ask you guys.

The muzzle velocities and raw stopping power are much different in all three of those. The reason 9mm is standard is tact; the army switched from the colt 1911 .45 to the M9 9mm. The .45 was called the manstopper for a good reason, as it tends to mess the shit out of what it hits. The 9mm on the other hand was adopted because it would maim more than kill. In maiming one enemy, it takes two healthy opponents to carry/drag their comrade to safety/medical help. Thus you eliminate the amount of gunfire coming back at you, as the guy you just shot is dragged away by his buddies, who have their hands too full to aim at you anyway. In a zombie apocalypse however, the headshot is most important and can be done by pretty much any projectile weapon (lawn darts, pellet gun, .22). the 9mm ammo is just more abundant on the run, although if you bought two or three boxes of .22 ammo you'd be much better off.

I have heard Bidding, Magazine capacity, and even a leverage deal involving bases. Now I was aware that it had to do with NATO involvement and penetration, but had not heard the maim more than kill idea as a reason until now.

The Walking Dead becomes an AMC series.

Hopefully they omit the less realistic parts of the series, because that trailer looks like everything I'm looking for in a TV show.

ITT: Zombie rule thread.
I start with Rule #1, and we continue from there.
No, arguing like little bitches, if you don't agree, say why, or post a rule against it- and a reason for it.
After about 100 rules, I'll set up a blogspot or some shit, organize all the rules and decide which ones are worthwhile to protect you mother fuckers when shit gets real.
I'm looking to get about 200 rules so at least some of us survive.

Rule #119- There is no such thing as a safe location only an safer one

Rule # 120- Protect and maintain your gear repair/replace as necessary as if your life depended on it because it does.
Rule #120b- Never become dependent or attached to any one tool

Rule # 121- Always be aware that the second biggest threat is raiders (followed closely by triple jointed redhead nymphomaniacs who own liquor stores).

Rule # 122- Check everything then check it again this goes from travel and fortifications to searches and gear.

Rule # 123- If fortified in current location eliminate threats as needed. (zombie outside your fortification drawing more eliminate, spotted by a single raider or scout eliminate, etc......)

Rule # 124- People alone are smart large groups of people are dumb keep your group to manageable size.

Rule # 125- Suppressors get one, learn to use one, learn to maintain one, learn the difference between sub ammo and regular rinse repeat as needed.

Rule 138: Do not give gear away to infected team members.

That always pissed me off in movies. Someone gets bit and they're going to be left behind so someone in the group gives them a gun. I would be like 'screw that, we need this more than you'. If you're infected, all the supplies you should take from your group is a single bullet.
>> No. 12942
Rule #139: Have firecrackers for distraction...remember that zombies are attract by sound so if you are surrounded by zombies try to throw a firecracker really far from you so that maybe the zombies will follow the sound
